How could I say this... uhm ok let's divide this book into two parts. The first part of the book did not hold my interest, yes I was laughing at Sophie's jokes but besides that nothing really happened (I needed some serious stuffs not some attacks at the club). The story was just around how Sophie adapted to the life with this new place with her father. And it was predictable too that the bad person would be Mrs. Casnoff (hint: the way she replied to Sophie's email). The only thing surprised me was to find out that Cal is Sophie's fiancee since in the first book Cal did not give me an impression that he would also be "some kind of an important" character. To tell you the truth, I really don't see the point why brought this up, to stir up a triangle love, maybe. But too bad for me it's so obvious who Sophie is going to choose in the end so really no need to work up over team Cal or team Archer.
The story really kicked in after Sophie's birthday party, from what I called it as the second part. From here, it's really a page turner and I went through it in one sitting. So I guess this made up for the 1st part and insure that I will be reading the last book (because at the beginning I was in doubt about continuing the series).

Sophie Mercer thought she was a witch.
That was the whole reason she was sent to Hex Hall, a reform school for delinquent Prodigium (aka witches, shapeshifters, and fairies). But that was before she discovered the family secret, and that her hot crush, Archer Cross, is an agent for The Eye, a group bent on wiping Prodigium off the face of the earth.
Turns out, Sophie’s a demon, one of only two in the world—the other being her father. What’s worse, she has powers that threaten the lives of everyone she loves. Which is precisely why Sophie decides she must go to London for the Removal, a dangerous procedure that will destroy her powers.
But once Sophie arrives she makes a shocking discovery. Her new friends? They’re demons too. Meaning someone is raising them in secret with creepy plans to use their powers, and probably not for good. Meanwhile, The Eye is set on hunting Sophie down, and they’re using Archer to do it. But it’s not like she has feelings for him anymore. Does she?
