GR

A love out of time. A spaceship built of secrets and murder.

Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.

Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone-one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship-tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn't do something soon, her parents will be next.

Now Amy must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there's only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming.

This was my first sci-fi read so to tell you the truth I was so nervous. I was worrying that I may getting lost or not connecting with the story because of all those "science" terms that were used in the book. But thank goodness it was not the case at all, the writing is so beautiful that you will have no trouble getting into the story. With all the amazing details, I actually feel like I'm living there on the spaceship. It's like the world coming alive and I can literally see it, the wall, the field and the people.

It is indeed a slow pace read but it's ok with me though. With this kind of book I think it's normal because it takes time to get you all familiar with the new world and the new way of living. I call it a new world even though this is not a high fantasy book. But don't you agree 300 years in the future is really a long time. Besides living on a spaceship is not the same as living on Earth. Also let me tell you, this book is really intense with all the secrets and murders. I constantly felt like something bad was going to happen and I had no idea who is the bad guy here. It's really addicting and I cannot put the book down even though sometimes I felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest.

Ok next let's talk about characters. The lovely thing about this book is the alternate POVs between Amy and Elder. I love both of them. Their personalities are very difference from each other Earth born vs. Space born. In my opinion, Amy is a strong girl. She did have mental breakdown but it's understandable.  It's a new world, completely different from Earth and she is alone. And not to mention people there don't like her and want to get rid of her. So of course it's normal that she did freak out. About Elder, he is a good person and pretty mature for his age. But sometimes he seems like a little kid (getting excited and curious about everything). There is a little romance between Amy and Elder but not much I hope there will be more in the future.

The technology in the future is amazing but that's it. Everything else is terrifying =X

Overall, this book is really well done. The characters, the plot I love it all. I highly recommend this one =D

PS: I love this cover (the old one). It is so pretty >.<

  1. I read this book and felt the same way, I know some people hated it but it was just right for me.
I also think that the old cover is awesome. So much better than the new one. I don't know why they changed it. I know it was to sell more books but still I think this cover is better.
    Great review!

    1. I guess people don't like it because of the slow pacing. I don't really mind though if the story is good but maybe it's just me.

Yes I hate it too when the publisher decides to change the cover in the middle of the series. But the cover for the last book really is not that bad. It matches perfect well with the plot though.
