Mirabelle's past is shrouded in secrecy, from her parents' tragic deaths to her guardians' half-truths about why she can't return to her birthplace, Beau Rivage. Desperate to see the town, Mira runs away a week before her sixteenth birthday—and discovers a world she never could have imagined.
In Beau Rivage, nothing is what it seems—the strangely pale girl with a morbid interest in apples, the obnoxious playboy who's a beast to everyone he meets, and the chivalrous guy who has a thing for damsels in distress. Here, fairy tales come to life, curses are awakened, and ancient stories are played out again and again.

The book is brilliant, really a page turner. This is my first time reading a fairy tale related book and I did not know what to expect: happy ending or sad ending.  Thank god the ending was ok, Blue and Mira had a chance to be together (I'm really happy for them, I did see the bond, the chemistry between them). But I did not feel satisfied since I did not know what happen to Felix or how Freddie  would cope with the idea that his "princess" be with someone else or who were Mira's parents and did she had a chance to talk/meet them? I meant there were so many things left unanswered. Despise that, the story was written so beautiful, so many fairy tales included.

If I was Mira I would do the same thing too: falling in love with Felix, thought of him as a perfect prince and felt attracted to his brother Blue. The characters were created so real, authentic I must said. It's just so easy to feel related to. And look at the cover, OMG it was so so pretty, I fell in love with the cover right away. Actually the cover had drawn me in and I couldn't resist its prettiness and bought the book.  The reason for  4.5 is because the ending, it felt kind of rush.

Some favorite quotes from the book:

"Life didn't have to be perfect to be wonderful. It just had to be real."

"You couldn't hide from bad things and pretend they didn't exist- that left you with a dream world, and dream worlds eventually crumbled. You have to face the truth. And then decide what you wanted."
