Review: Pivot Point by Kasie West

Series:  Pivot Point #1

Knowing the outcome doesn’t always make a choice easier . . .

Addison Coleman’s life is one big “What if?” As a Searcher, whenever Addie is faced with a choice, she can look into the future and see both outcomes. It’s the ultimate insurance plan against disaster. Or so she thought. When Addie’s parents ambush her with the news of their divorce, she has to pick who she wants to live with—her father, who is leaving the paranormal compound to live among the “Norms,” or her mother, who is staying in the life Addie has always known. Addie loves her life just as it is, so her answer should be easy. One Search six weeks into the future proves it’s not.

In one potential future, Addie is adjusting to life outside the Compound as the new girl in a Norm high school where she meets Trevor, a cute, sensitive artist who understands her. In the other path, Addie is being pursued by the hottest guy in school—but she never wanted to be a quarterback’s girlfriend. When Addie’s father is asked to consult on a murder in the Compound, she’s unwittingly drawn into a dangerous game that threatens everything she holds dear. With love and loss in both lives, it all comes down to which reality she’s willing to live through . . . and who she can’t live withou

I did not think I would read this book right away because this is just the first book in the series (don't know if this will be a trilogy or duology or what but for now just say it as a series) and the next  book is not going to come out until February next year 2014. Personally I tend to wait at least 2 books are out before starting to read it. However the plot of Pivot Point sounds so tempting plus the gorgeous cover, so yeah it'd won me over before I even started 0-o. Luckily this book did not end with a cliff hanger so it's not like I am dying to wait for the sequel. However I am happy to read more about Addie and Travis, seriously those two are just so cute together.

The story started off when Addie has to make a decision to choose who she wanted to live with and we were tag along in her Search. You have to read it, this book is amazing with so many twists. It has a little bit of everything (some cute moments, some funny parts and yet a little bit "put you on the edge" the last few chapters). The story flows so smoothly, the alternate path is placed side by side (a chapter in para- world and the other chapter in norm-world). It kept rotating like that to keep the timeline matched each other and it's easy for us to see how things would turn out if Addie picked one path over the other. Will she meet the same people, feel the same way?  I am worrying that I may spoil the surprise if I continue to say more so I better stop and let you enjoy the book without any evil spoilers.

Side note: Knowing the future is a good thing if you can change it. However knowing and unable to do anything is a worst thing ever...better of not knowing so you do not have to surfer. Life will never go the way you want so I guess you just have to be strong and deal with whatever the universe throws at you.
